Go Team Rogers!
Annual Fundraising Auction & Dinner
Saturday, May 8th, 5:30 – 10:00pm
Lake City Elks
Join the John Rogers Elementary PTA as we prepare for our “Go Team Rogers!” themed annual fundraising auction and dinner. The more successful the event, the more success our children will have - and we can have fun along the way, too!
Here Are Some Easy Ways To Help!
We need items!
The first rule of a successful auction is “procure, procure, procure!”. Our goal of making $55,000 can only be reached if we procure quality items. The money raised during this one-night event goes directly to the students at John Rogers via library books, community/family events, classroom supplies, facility upgrades, computers, field trips, camps, after school clubs, and teacher and staff enrichment programs.
Donate something you already have! This is an easy way to clean out your closet. That weird gift your Great Aunt Myrtle gave you for your birthday? We could use it! That hot new trend you just had to have, and then stashed in your closet and forgot about? We could use it! Donate those duplicate holiday gifts or unused items sitting around your house. No matter how small the item is, we’ll take it; we can use it to create great gift baskets.
Donate a bottle (or two) of wine for the wine toss! New this year is a fun way to raise money for our school. We need all types of wine – red, white, cheap, not-so-cheap. The more wine we have, the better your chances of “winning” a bottle during the auction.
Give something of yourself! Are you a quilter, wood worker or ceramic artist? Do you cut hair, paint houses, sew or teach yoga? Could you host a “Back to School Barbecue,” or karaoke party for kids? How about babysitting, dog walking, house cleaning or gardening? Your talents and time would be much appreciated!
Ask your hairdresser, dry cleaner, mechanic, house cleaner, painter, etc.! Nothing helps a business like free publicity and goodwill among the community. A small donation by one business goes a long way. If you would like to know which businesses we have already contacted, see the bulletin board in the school’s main hall, John Rogers PTA web site (www.johnrogerspta.org) under the Auction/Ways to Help/Procuring Items heading, or contact Laura Spring at 206-524-8865 ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ).
Ask a friend or relative! Do you know someone who has a service or goods to donate? Give them a call and remind them that all proceeds help your child’s school!
Where can I get a donation form? Donation forms are available at the school on the main bulletin board, online at www.johnrogerspta.org (under the Auction/Ways to Help/Procuring Items) or from Laura Spring. Keep a stack in your car when you are out and about and use the forms when requesting items so donors have a record of their contribution. Return a copy of the form with the item to the auction barrel outside the office or drop off at ‘kid drop off’ in the morning. Some businesses will request our non-profit tax ID number which is 91-1154646.
Volunteer!
Help is needed in every capacity: set-up, decorations, procurement, classroom projects and more! Call Kristina Bartelson at 206-361-2489 or e-mail the This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to get involved.
Attend the auction!
Tickets will go on sale April 5th so buy your tickets – the earlier the better. This is a great event for friends and relatives to join us for dinner, drinks, dessert and an auction, all for the benefit of the John Rogers students. Invitations will be sent home via kid-mail April 9th. Tickets are $30/person and includes dinner, no-host bar, dessert and the auction. Payments can be made via check, cash or Visa/MC. Don’t forget to arrange for a babysitter!
The deadline for items is March 26th
Items received by this date will be included in the catalogue.
In addition to the donations made by local businesses and John Rogers families, each classroom will have an item included in the auction. Make sure you bid on your child’s class project!!
These are usually the best sellers at the event!
