We Need Hundreds of Great Items
The first rule of a successful auction is "procure, procure, procure!" Our financial goal can only be reached if we procure quality items. The money raised during this one-night events goes directly to the students at John Rogers, via library books, community/family events, classroom supplies, facility upgrades, computers, field trips, camps after school clubs, and teachers/staff enrichment programs.
Review the Donor List
Review the "Businesses Already Contacted" document on the left menu and use it for inspiration on other places to contact!
Bring Copies of our Procurement Letter and Donation Form (see left for PDF links)
Keep a stack of both forms in your car as you go about your errands. Use the forms when requesting items so donors have a record of their contribution. If you use the official form, return the yellow form with item or to the PTA box at school so the items can be included in the catalog. If you downloaded a form, make a photocopy to send to our school and mail/send the donor the original form. Set a date and time for pick-up or delivery of the item.
Ask Your Hairdresser, Dry Cleaner, Mechanic, Favorite Restaurant, etc
Don't make the mistake of not asking someone for a donation because you don't think they will donate. If you don't ask them, you're pretty much guaranteed they won't donate for sure. Be specific about what you ask for. Most folks won't know what you want for your event. Offer them choices of things that you know they can provide. If left up to them to determine what you want, many people find it easier to say no.
Give Something of Yourself
Are you a quilter, wood worker or ceramic artist? Do you cut hair, paint houses or teach yoga? Could you host a "Back to School Barbecue," or karaoke party for kids? What about all those gifts you decided weren't your style? We will take it all...as long as it's new. No matter how small the item is, we can use it to create great gift baskets. just fill out a form and donate!
Ask a Friend or Relative
Do you know someone who has a service or goods to donate? Give them a call and remind them that all the proceeds help your child's school.
